Description
The Saarschleife, in contrast to the Kleine Saarschleife near Hamm (a district of Taben-Rodt) also called the Große Saarschleife near Mettlach, is a breakthrough valley of the Saar through the Taunus quartzite and is one of the most famous sights in the Saarland. The most popular view is the Cloef viewpoint, located 180 m high above the river in the Mettlach district of Orscholz. The shore is formed by rock faces, scree heaps and small ravines.
